Dear Community and Aviation Forum Members
On the night of Tuesday 4 October 2016, Sunshine Coast Airport will need to close its main runway to undertake essential maintenance works. The works will involve recutting grooves within a section of the runway about 500m from the northern end. The runway centreline will also be re-painted.
Runway grooving (critical to aircraft braking performance in wet weather) and line marking are essential to the safe operation of the runway but unfortunately cannot be carried out whilst the runway is operational during the day, making night works a necessity. It is expected there will be some noise impact for residents within close proximity to the airport. Every effort will be made to minimise the disturbance.
The runway will be closed from 8pm until 4.30am. Work is expected to be completed well within that timeframe.
A letter drop to the Marcoola area will be undertaken next week to inform those residents close to the airport of the works.
Enquiries with respect to this matter may be directed to Rod Miller, Operations Supervisor, on 0417 630 377 or Richie Studiman, Team Leader Projects, on 0437 101 175.
Sunshine Coast Airport apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.
Regards
Peter Pallot
